In the Caucasus mountains, Tetnuldi (4858 m.) is a symbol of beauty, it’s elegant pyramidal and snowy slopes attract attention from afar.
Tetnuldi is located in the Svaneti region of Georgia, in the central part of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range. According to most sources, Tetnuldi is the 10th highest peak in the Caucasus. The slopes of the mountain are glaciated generally above the 3,000 meter and most prominent glacier of the mountain is called Adishi.
Tetnuldi was first climbed in 1887 by the British pioneer Douglas Freshfield, with his guides, Francois and Michel Dévouassoud, and Joseph Désailloud, via the south-west ridge this route has become a classic (2B uiaa).
The classic route on the mountain is different with snow and ice. Technically it’s not difficult, but the main challenges include altitude, and steep ice ridge. Ice climbing experience is required.
The first wintertime ascent of Tetnuldi West Face made “CAUCASUS HIGHLIGHTS” founders and guides in 2021.
