Laila peak (4008 m.), a mountain in Svaneti region. In the local language - Lahili, (“flame of fire”). If you intend to get to know the Svanetian mountains, Laila is one of the best places to start. It is distinguished by an amazingly beautiful panorama of the outstanding peaks of the Caucasus. The peak was first climbed by John Cockin in 1887.


A long way to the Base Camp path leads through a completely isolated valley, from the green camp you will start the summit push.

An easily accessible mountain that can be climbed without mountaineering experience, but this is a mountain with real objective dangers, you need to cross glaciers with crevasses, And it is important to set the right path. Climbing with an experienced guide is the key to safety.

Season: middle of June — end of September.

  • Our mountain Guides have an average of over 10 years of experience in the industry, and a high record of safe, summit climbing. Safety is always our number one priority.

    Our guides are mountaineers, having a strong grasp of technical climbing, and high altitude experience, along with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Fitness

    The route requires good, intensive physical preparation in advance. Climbers must be in good physical shape to join this expedition.

    Technical

    Mountaineering experience will be great and useful, but it’s not required.

  • Day 1 : Arrive Kutaisi \ Tbilisi. You will be meet at the airport by a Caucasus Adventures representative and transferred to the hotel.

    Day 2 : Travel to Mestia. In the morning, we will check all equipment. We sort and organize our gear and supplies, departure.

    Mestia is regarded a chief community of Upper Svaneti province. It was formerly known as Seti.

    Accommodation in a hotel.

    Day 3 : Base Camp (2800 m). We transfer to 4WD vehicles to the Tviberi village. It starts hiking towards Chishdi pass (3100m), then descends at 2800m.

    Overnight in tents.

    Day 4 : Free\Acclimatization day.

    Day 5 : Summit Day. Returning to our Base camp. Overnight.

    Day 6 : Descend to Mestia. Descend down to Tviberi village. Transfer to the village Mestia. Accommodation in a hotel.

    Day 7 : Reserve Day.

    Day 8 : Drive to Kutaisi \ Tbilisi. We travel by vehicle back to the town. Accommodation in a hotel.

    Day 9 : Departure.

    Transfer to the airport (Kutaisi-Tbilisi)

    . Eye protection – Sunglasses for mountaineering that fit the face snugly and tight. Should be a 3-4th category

    Clothing \ Other Essentials

    . Waterproof Shell Jacket (1)

    . Down Jacket (1) – Light-medium weight preferably. Hooded or without a hood is fine

    . Mid Layer Jacket (1) – Fleece Jacket to put on top of the thermal layer

    . Thermal Base Layer Shirt (1) – This can be a synthetic or wool layer

    . Waterproof Shell Trousers (1 pair)

    . Thermal Base Layer Underwear/Leggings ( 1 pair) – Can be synthetic or wool

    . Beanie hat, buff, balaclava – Gear to keep the head and face warm

    . Waterproof Insulated Gloves or Mittens – 1 Pair. For the summit

    . Trekking Gloves – 1 pair. Should be warm, but not bulky. Only for trekking and on the base camp

    . Socks – Lightweight and medium-weight mountaineering wool socks.

    . Comfortable trekking trousers (1 pairs) – For leisure wear in base camp and trekking

    . Microfiber towel – Used for drying hands and face. Body size is not needed, as there is no shower at the base camp

    . Mess kit – Bowl and utensils for base camp and climbing meals

    . Sleeping bag – Suitable for - 10 Degrees Celsius

    . Sleeping mat / pad – Rollable or inflatable

    . Thermos (optional): 1-liter

    . Sunscreen: SPF 50 or better

    . Lip Screen: SPF 40
