Mount Kazbek (5,054 m.) is the highest mountain in Eastern Caucasus, one of the highest peaks in the Europe and third-highest peak in Georgia (after Mount Skhara and Janga). Distinguished by its beauty and legends.

Mount Kazbek is associated in Georgian folklore with Amirani, the Georgian version of Prometheus, who was chained on the mountain as a punishment for having stolen fire from the gods and giving it to mortals. The location of his imprisonment later became the site of an Orthodox hermitage located in a cave called "Betlemi" at approximately the 4,000-meter level. According to legends, this cave housed many sacred relics, including the “Abrahams tent” and the manger of the “infant Jesus”.

The Kazbek classic route is characterized by a long distance. It will pass through a variety of terrain true the Gergeti glacier. Technically, it is not difficult, but the main challenges include altitude, crevasses, and steep sections.

There are more than ten routes and options to climb to the peak, most of them are snow and ice.

The most difficult, new winter route up the “Dragon’s” rock was climbed  by “CAUCASUS HIGHLIGHTS” founders and guides in 2016
